Carlos Quiterio

Fitacola and Co. is a publishing + curatorial project focused in collage on paper, by me and my wife, Graça Quitério.

The first edition consisted on an exhibition in Atelier Open, Amsterdam, together with the luxury zine launch “Fitacola & Co. #1″.
The second edition will follow in 2012. I am currently looking for Galleries collage artists in Germany, Spain and New York eho can participate in this project. Participating Artists: Fitacola (Carlos & Graça Quitério); João Pombeiro, Paulo Barros,  Zé Burnay, Benedita Feijó.

I have co-founded in October 2010 a non-profit cultural organization in Caldas da Rainha, called “BIXO MAU”
Aiming different areas of interest related to the  culture and leisure targeting the local community, the social web and the Portuguese scene, this associative project has gained a lot of expectations and pretty good acceptance by producing many sorts of events and successful artistic projects.

Seven main resident projects were created to host all proposals for events and activities: an Art Gallery, Club (disco), Lusco-Fusco (events between 17h00 and 23h00), “Fresh-Up” (for young-blood dj’s), P1F (online media streaming), Apendice (the printed pamphlet) and a couple other marketing/business projects meant to  raise new crowds and investors.

I am in charge of coordinating the communication gateways and the overall design/aesthetics.

(part2) Fitacola collages are handmade from scissor cuts, adhesive tape reassemblings and original paper stuff we’ve been acquiring through these years. Having reached a point of almost endless supplies, the process is quite simple, assemble by having fun.

Maratona – Restaurant, Cafe, Lounge Bar, located in the center of the city of Caldas da Rainha, in the Portuguese West-Coast

This café and restaurant has brought a cutting-edge concept, compromised to have a fine-quality food and beverage products, as well as a “sporting” good  service, allied to cultural events within many interests like music, video, performances, thematic parties, etc.

I am in charge of the graphic design, web design and online management within the social networks.

T-shirt made for charity. designgive.com

Between March 2008 and February 2009 I was in charge for the graphic design and design direction for my local citie’s Cultural and Congresses Centre.

Many mediums, formats and applications were produced. These images are just a small portion from the amount created.

Posters and propaganda made for this small café/lounge. I have also made the walls decoration with João Cabaço (nuvomatic).

The Office club has lived strongly for 2 years. Loads of cool and crazy parties that made the nights of my local city. Trend-setter, hype-maker, some of the best portuguese dj’s have pushed the db’s to the limits – starters or just established in the music and entertainment main, some indie concerts, theater, artistic events…. Good vibes. A joyfull and recommendable crew of friends. I was in charge of the graphic design for a whole year. (2005-2007)

Place, The World in a Suitcase
A Suitcase with a blank book, a blank t-shirt and a camera traveled around the planet. 35 designers and Artists have translated the world around them into their pages, fabric and lens. After 18 Months spent on the making, and 170.000 Km traveled, It was presented in Barcelona, at CCCB in November 2004, and after that, in other Spanish cities and South-American soil.
